La Comunidad Hispana is hosting a free informational workshop for those wishing to apply to become citizens of the United States.

 

The information session will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3 at LCH, 731 West Cypress Street, Kennett Square. Volunteer attorneys will be available to answer questions regarding eligibility and application requirements. Potential applicants will be screened for eligibility and scheduled a time to fill out the application with a volunteer attorney or law student on Saturday, April 20 starting at 10 a.m. For more information, contact LCH at (610) 444-7550, ext. 235.

 

“Recent studies show that only 35 percent of eligible persons apply for citizenship,” said Margarita Queralt Mirkil, President and Chief Executive Officer of LCH. “Some of the reasons that people don’t apply include they don’t know how or are scared. Our program at LCH will help those who qualify to become citizens.”

These free outreach events are coordinated by the American Immigration Lawyers Association and hosted by La Comunidad Hispana, as well as other agencies in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Lehigh counties. The coordination of these events is in conjunction with LCH’sLegal Assistance program which provides free legal assistance to the community at LCH every Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. The legal assistance is available by appointment only.

Con tantas noticias locales sobre el consulado mexicano decide visitar sus oficinas para ver como son sus servicios en Filadelfia.

Con la razón superficial de renovar mi pasaporte, busque información sobre las detalles por el internet.  Su sitio, www.sre.gob.mx/filadelfia, avisa que las personas interesadas en obtener pasaporte, matrícula consular o cualquier trámite de registro civil, deben llamar al número telefónico gratuito 1-877-MEXITEL (1-877-639-4835) a fin de obtener una cita. Los operadores de MEXITEL le orientarán con respecto a los requisitos que debe cumplir y la hora a la que se deberá presentar para ser atendido.

La sistema de teléfono de MEXITEL no es el mejor, entonces aviso que no hablan por teléfono celular si pueden y por que ofrecen sus servicios en español e inglés, usan cualquier entiendes mejor. 

En el consulado puedes ver que hay mucho que están haciendo bien, como:

- tener trabajadores bilingües. Si, cada persona allí habla español pero con más niños creciendo en los Estados Unidos, quien sabe si su primer idioma cera. 

- ofrecer información gratis. Tenían información sobre servicios sociales, y más para padres nuevos, niños, y más. 

- café y panes dulce de Dunkin Donuts. Si no vives en o cerca al consulado, y tu cita es en la mañana entonces mejor no tuviste tiempo para hacerte un buen desayuno. Pues, los munchkins no fueron saludables, pero si fueron gratis y delicioso con café. 

- tener suficiente sillas. Imagino qué este es una oficina que siempre tiene gente, bastantes filas, y tiempos donde nada más estas esperando; entonces suficiente sillas es necesario. 

Pero también había algunas áreas donde pueden mejorar, como: 

- tener algo como libros o un video para niños. Padres van ha trailer sus niños y bebés, y si pueden caminar, de seguro van a correr (y gritar), entonces sería bueno si tenían algo con que pueden jugar. 

- mejorar su sistema de anuncios. Casi no se entiende nada pero des pues de dos horas y medio, entendí cuando dijeron mi nombre, en parte por que es un nombre largó. 

- mejorar su sitio de internet. Por qué no pueden poner información adicional en el sitio, como lo que necesitas traer para tu cita, o donde puedes estacionar gratis o en un estacionamiento. 

La Comunidad Hispana is coordinating free bus transportation to the Susan G. Komen’s Latinas United for the Cure event at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown on Saturday, March 23.

The event is free and open to everyone and includes bus transportation and lunch paid for by the Komen organization. To reserve a spot or to receive additional information, call Soledad Duran at LCH at 610-444-7550 ext. 207. Duran said last year three buses were used to transport participants.

The “Hope Breast Cancer: Knowledge, Strength and Support for your Life”

event starts with a panel to discuss breast cancer and sexuality. Group sessions will then be held. The sessions are available in both English and Spanish. The event begins with registration at 8:30 a.m.

The Komen Philadelphia Affiliation Community has local resources for women in need of mammograms as well as breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and support.

La Comunidad Hispana and the Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia will sign Friday a memorandum of understanding to jointly work together to promote health services to Mexican nationals, their families and those of Mexican 

Margarita Queralt Mirkil, President and Chief Executive Officer of LCH, and Mexican Consul Carlos I. Giralt-Cabrales will sign the memorandum at 11:30 a.m. at LCH.

“This partnership is another step forward for LCH and our clients,” Mirkil said. “We are pleased to be working with the Mexican consulate on our mutual goal of providing the best health care possible.”

The memorandum states LCH “provides services for the wellbeing and support” to its clients and is known as a “leader in health issues and recognizes the importance of the binational association and collaboration with the United Mexican 

The objective of the memorandum is to provide and promote at the Consulate quality bilingual, bicultural healthcare education and to disseminate health information through one-to-one education contacts. Also, the agreement calls for help with finding health insurance for individuals and 

LCH will appoint a program coordinator and an outreach worker for the project, also known asVentanilla de Salud, and be responsible for the implementation of the program. LCH will also report to the Mexican Consulate on the progress of the program and will seek out additional funding and health care partners for the project.

Health topics may include: access to health services, immunizations, tuberculosis, proper use of antibiotics, diabetes, cholesterol, back pain, hypertension, prenatal care, dental health, alcohol and substance abuse, asthma, occupational health, among others.

Papa Francis, el primer papa de un pais afuera de Europa, y el primer papa hispano, hoy aparecio para su primer ves como papa en la balconia de la basilica de Santo Pedro.

El nuevo papa fue selecionado por los cardinales del Vatican, anunciado con humo blanco un poco des pues de la 7 de la noche en la Ciudad Vaticano hoy.

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, de Buenos Aires, Argentina, tambien es el primer papa jesuita. Con un padre italiano y madre argentina, tiene 76 anos de edad.

Papa Francis empiesara su trabajo casi imidiatamente, y el Vaticano dijo que celebrara su misa de instalacion en martes, marzo 19. Durante la misa, Francis recibara su anillo y manto.

Que creen que significa este selecion de los cardinales? Ustedes estan orgulloso del nuevo papa? o no? Y por que? Como creen que va ha cambiar el Vaticano con Papa Francis?

Miguel Alban empezó trabajando para Elite Insurance, pero con el apoyo de su jefe, Matt Naylor, empezaron Avante por qué vieron que en esta área de Pennsylvania no hay un grupo que trabaja specifiamente para larinos o comercios con dueños latinos en ayudando los comprar seguro.

Alban dijo que espera operar los negocios de Avante en la área de Kennett Square o Avondale en unos meses.

El consulado de México hablo y almuerzo con el grupo de latinos profesionales, el Latino Luncheon.

Durante el evento, hablo sobre el crecimiento y éxito del comercio entre México y los Estados Unidos, como el envíamento de frutas y otras cosas hecho en países latinos.

El consulado también expreso que estava impresionado con el grupo y espera que pueden crecer y incluir más gente.
